New Zealand Women are steadily building their innings. Sophie Devine continues to anchor at the top, timing the ball beautifully and moving to 46 off 63 deliveries. Meanwhile, Brooke Halliday is providing the fireworks from the other end, racing to 31 off just 18 balls with some aggressive strokes.
Score after 32 overs
NZW 148-3
That’s the breakthrough South Africa needed! Chloe Tryon delivers in her very first over, and Plimmer falls victim to a misjudged shot. Trying to go over long-off, she miscalculates the length and loft, sending the ball straight into de Klerk’s hands.
The 57-run partnership finally ends. Plimmer’s patient 31 off 68 comes to an end, leaving Sophie Devine to rebuild the innings and keep the scoreboard ticking.
Score after 26 overs
NZW 105-3
A tidy over with a hint of aggression from the skipper! Sophie Devine starts confidently, working a single before cracking a crisp boundary through extra cover, pure timing and placement. The rest of the over is kept in check though, with the bowler maintaining her line and length.
Devine looks set on 20 off 20, while Georgia Plimmer continues her patient knock on 21 off 51, holding one end as the innings builds steadily.

NZW 78-2
That’s a big breakthrough for South Africa! The pressure was mounting, and Amelia Kerr finally looks to break free, but de Klerk outsmarts her. She takes the pace off, forcing Kerr into a mistimed lofted drive that slices off the outer half of the bat.
Luus at mid-off initially misjudges it but does brilliantly to adjust, moving to her left and diving forward to complete a fine catch. Kerr’s patient 23 off 42 comes to an end.
Score after 13 overs
NZW 44-2
A rather quiet over turns dramatic in the end! The bowler was spot on for most of it, delivering five tight dots before losing control and sending down a wide that raced away for five extras. A single off the last ball keeps the scoreboard ticking.
Score after 10 overs
NZW 38-1
A boundary-filled over but the bowler keeps her calm in between! Plimmer finds the fence twice, first a crisp drive through covers and then a confident loft over mid-off. However, the bowler hits back with some tight lines to end the over quietly.
However, the next over went maiden.
Amelia Kerr continues to anchor from the other end, looking settled on 13 off 16, while Georgia Plimmer is starting to find her rhythm on 4 off 7. New Zealand Women slowly building after that early wicket.
Score after 5 overs
NZW 17-1
And we’re off! Bates and Plimmer are at the crease, but what a nightmare start for New Zealand, Kapp lands a perfect good-length delivery with just a hint of angle, and Bates is trapped LBW for a duck. Back-to-back ducks, and her 350th international isn’t starting the way she’d hoped.
Dane van Niekerk pumps her fist in the stands, loving it. And here comes Amelia Kerr to the crease, ready to steady the ship. The game is on at the crease now, and we have Kerr and Plimmer looking to rebuild after that early blow.
Score after 1 overs
NZW 5-1
