Australian captain Pat Cummins has taken one of the great return catches to remove West Indies batter Keacy Carty on day two of the second Test at Grenada’s National Cricket Stadium.
In reply to Australia’s 289 all out, the hosts were 1-39 when Cummins brought himself into the attack for the ninth over, with Carty unbeaten on 6.

The New South Welshman produced a length delivery that nipped in and kissed the inside edge, ricocheting off Carty’s front pad and floating towards short leg. Travis Head, who had been under the helmet throughout the morning session, was removed from bat-pad a couple of deliveries earlier, with the Dukes ball at risk of landing in safe territory at silly mid-on.
However, Cummins quickly changed direction in his follow-through and sprinted ten metres before diving with an outstretched right hand, completing a remarkable catch inches from the turf.
“That is a brilliant catch, absolutely terrific from the Australian captain,” former West Indies bowler Ian Bishop said in commentary.
“It is an athletic effort of the highest class.”
Former Australian batter Greg Blewett continued: “That is fantastic piece of work.
“The athleticism on show … absolutely superb cricket.”
Earlier in the innings, fellow Australian seamer Josh Hazlewood took a smart return catch to remove veteran opener Kraigg Brathwaite for a duck.
