Parkfield Liscard Cricket Club launch free junior training sessions – Wirral Globe

A WIRRAL cricket club has announced the return of its highly popular Junior Cricket Programme.
The free summer initiative is designed to introduce young people aged five to 16 to the joys of cricket in a fun, supportive, and inclusive environment.
Running every Friday evening until August 29, at Parkfield Liscard Cricket Club, between 6:30pm and 7:30pm, the sessions are open to all, with no requirement to attend every week – offering flexibility for families over the summer break.
Importantly, no previous experience is required – just a willingness to join in and have fun.
The sessions are played with a soft ball, making it a safe and enjoyable introduction to cricket for children of all ages and abilities.
All children are welcome, regardless of background or skill level.
“At our club, we pride ourselves on promoting diversity, equality, and inclusivity,” said Rachel Thomson, Junior Cricket Chair.
“As a community club, we believe that cricket should be accessible to everyone, regardless of social or economic circumstances. That’s why we’re committed to providing these sessions free of charge.
“What truly sets this programme apart is the spirit of community at its core. The coaching is delivered by the club’s own senior players, who volunteer their time to share their passion and skills with the next generation.
“In a heart-warming development for 2025, every participating child will receive a t-shirt featuring the club emblem, helping to foster a strong sense of identity and belonging. These t-shirts are more than just clothing they symbolise each child’s inclusion in the team, their place in our club family, and their connection to the wider community,” she said.
The initiative highlights the club’s ongoing commitment to youth development and community engagement, using sport as a platform for positive change.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to bring their children along to experience the fun, friendship, and values that lie at the heart of cricket – and at the heart of the club.
