Alex Reese, pictured, became Martins Ferry’s all-time scorer in boys’ basketball Friday afternoon during an Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Association-sponsored event inside the Canton Memorial Fieldhouse. Reese netted 24 points in a 75-56 loss to Indian Valley, eclipsing the old mark of 1,338 set by Ron ‘Cy’ Godfrey in 1956. The Youngstown State University football recruit now has 1,354 career points and counting. Reese has been named to all-state teams in both football and basketball, and averaged 25.9 points per game last season as a junior.
