In his last hit out before a potential Test debut, Sam Konstas was dismissed for a duck in the Big Bash League on Saturday night.
All eyes were on Konstas for the Sydney Smash between the Sydney Thunder and Sydney Sixers at the Sydney Showground after the young gun was elevated to the Test squad in Nathan McSweeney's place.
While Konstas has been included as part of the Boxing Day Test squad, he is no guarantee to feature in the side's final XI for the MCG match.
Hoping to snare the vacant opening batting spot left by McSweeney, Konstas would have been hoping to back up from his record-breaking BBL debut earlier this week, where he scored the Thunder's fastest-ever half-century as the team chased down its target of 183 with two balls to spare.
Konstas scored 56 runs from 27 balls, including eight 4s and two 6s as Warner and Cameron Bancroft faltered.
In coming to the crease alongside David Warner to open for the Thunder on Saturday, Konstas chopped onto his stumps for a third-ball duck to leave his side 1-1.
More to come.
