Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has given Paris Saint-Germain the lead in the final game of Group B against Seattle Sounders at Lumen Field.
The MLS club need a miracle to advance to the knockouts, and their slim chance of making it through is now even slimmer. The UEFA Champions League winners, meanwhile, need a result otherwise they could face a shock early exit.
PSG were on the end of a surprising defeat in their last game, losing 1-0 to Brazilian side Botafogo. The Sounders have not yet picked up a point in the tournament.

Extreme heat at the Club World Cup: Players and fans voice concerns as temperatures soar
As the half-time whistle was blowing here at Lumen Field, Atletico Madrid thought they had the perfect chance to open the scoring against Botafogo, but it wasn't to be.
The referee went to the VAR monitor to review a potential penalty for the Spaniards but before the all-important foul on Julian Alvarez, Alexander Sorloth was adjudged to have made a foul himself.
No penalty for Atletico and it is still goalless at Rose Bowl.

And, despite an extra minute of stoppage time, that Neves booking was the last notable action of the first half.
An entertaining first half at Lumen Field and one that PSG lead thanks to Kvaratskhelia's unintentional opener.

The yellow card is out for the first time today and Joao Neves is the recipient.
There was a brilliant turn from Obed Vargas to escape the grips of his opposite number in the middle of the pitch and the PSG midfielder could not pull out of fouling him.
As Vargas was in the process of springing a counter-attack, that's a yellow card for Neves and he had no complaints, in fairness.

This has been an encouraging performance from the Sounders, particularly as they are facing the best team in Europe.
But the difference between the two teams is being made so clear in the penalty areas. Seattle just created another promising opening but poor decisions and a lack of penetrative runs saw the chance fall to the wayside.
Although, at the other end, PSG made a mess of a few passes around the box and the hosts were able to clear the danger, so maybe they aren't too dissimilar!

An awkward but deserved goal for PSG and a subdued celebration by the European champions.
Very much a summer friendly vibe to this one.
37' Seattle Sounders 0-1 PSG
I said earlier that the Sounders could ill afford to keep giving Vitinha clear looks at goal from the edge of the box, but the midfielder was still given free rein from a corner.
His effort was a better calculated one and was heading for the bottom corner before taking a nick off Kvaratskhelia and finding the same target.
A wry smile from the Georgian as he wheeled away to celebrate with his team-mates.
The Sounders now need a miracle to advance to the knockouts.

And there's the opening goal for the European champions!
32' Seattle Sounders 0-0 PSG
Seattle seems to be approaching this game much like they did the last two: keep a strong team shape, don't overreach. While that philosophy is sound when a team needs to secure a draw, it isn't exactly befitting of a match where the Sounders need to win by three or more for any hope of advancing.
On the stateside DAZN broadcast, the commentators said Brian Schmetzer took a cue from Botafogo's gameplan and elected to design Seattle's press to force PSG wide. The reigning champions of Europe look none too happy with having to rely on width to progress and create chances.

Wow, that was real quality from PSG — the first time we have seen them truly click into gear today.
Doue drove towards the penalty area and exchanged a really neat one-two on the edge of the box. He was, however, falling off balance as he aimed for goal and Frei was able to save and hold onto the ball.
No shame in the Sounders giving up that chance — most teams in world football would have done!
28' Seattle Sounders 0-0 PSG
Brian Schmetzer will be delighted with what he has seen from his players so far.
They have limited PSG to very little in the way of clear-cut chances early in the match and have even looked a threat themselves going the other way.
The next task to navigate is keeping this up for another hour-plus.

A slow start to the day in Group B.
PSG aren't in a hurry yet, they know there is plenty of time to crack open this Sounders defence, but Seattle are having a real go at the game themselves. Ferreira had the best chance for either team, flashing over the crossbar with Donnarumma vacant from his goal line.
It is also goalless over at Rose Bowl, so that means that Botafogo and PSG will be heading through as it stands.

Oh, that was a big chance. A really big chance.
Seattle Sounders are not going to get too many high-quality opportunities, so they really cannot afford to pass them up when they do come.
Paul Rothrock led a strong pressing effort and forced Gianluigi Donnarumma into a mistake. The ball ultimately dropped for Jesus Ferreira and, although the angle was tight, the PSG goalkeeper was out of his goal.
The finish was really poor, thrashed over the crossbar with only one opposition defender between him and a priceless 1-0 lead.

PSG are really starting to turn the screw now, but the Sounders are defending their box valiantly.
As he so often does, Kvaratskhelia looks key to unlocking the stubborn backline and he has just had a few runs that will have worried fans of the MLS club.
His latest foray infield from the left wing ended with him aiming a right-footed strike towards goal but it was far too central and Frei saved relatively easily.

So, after that Frei save, PSG have levelled the corner count at two apiece.
And both of the corners that the French champions weren't fully cleared by the Sounders. Both times the ball dropped for Vitinha on the edge of the penalty area but, fortunately for the hosts, his pair of volleys were very poor.
Sounders can't afford to keep giving the diminutive PSG midfield clear sightings of goal, though.
12' Seattle Sounders 0-0 PSG
Back at Lumen Field, it is the first time either goalkeeper has been called into action so far.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia dinked a dangerous cross towards the back post where Achraf Hakimi had escaped the clutches of the defenders nearby. He laid it back into the path of Desire Doue who, after a touch, flashed an effort towards goal.
It was always rising, and would have probably gone over anyway, but Stefan Frei reacted quickly to turn it over the crossbar.
A clear pattern to the game already in Pasadena. Atletico Madrid are dominating the ball but have yet to create anything and it still goalless.
Botafogo are happy to soak up the pressure and already look a real threat on the break. Great chance for Jefferson Savarino there after good play by Igor Jesus.

After that early attacking flurry from the hosts, PSG have started to settle into their rhythm.
Vitinha will be key to breaking down this Sounders team, but it is getting very crowded in the middle of the park, so the European champions are having to shift the ball into the wide areas.
And their MLS opponents are doing just fine at limiting their early threat out there.
5' Seattle Sounders 0-0 PSG
Plenty of encouragement for Seattle Sounders in the first few minutes of the game as they have already been able to pin PSG inside their own defensive third a couple of times. And the MLS side have had the two first corners of the game.
The first of them dropped for Obed Vargas on the edge of the penalty area but his skewed volley flew a long way wide. Marquinhos cleared the danger emphatically at the second corner.
2' Seattle Sounders 0-0 PSG
The only advantage that Seattle has over PSG is the home cooking they've enjoyed throughout the tournament.
Seattle will play their third game at Lumen Field, thus having avoided many of the logistical headaches that comes with international competitions. And it's fitting for Seattle, the MLS team that was most deserving of being at the Club World Cup.
