The SEC is having a historic year on the hardwood. That year got even better on the first day of the SEC Tournament. There were three teams flirting with the bubble entering the weekend. All three of them won their matchups in Nashville.
Arkansas held on after blowing a big double-digit lead against South Carolina, Texas (over Vanderbilt) and Oklahoma (over Georgia) each recorded upset victories. That puts the conference in position to set history.
The Big East set an NCAA Tournament record with 11 bids in 2011. That record should be shattered by the SEC in 2025. Texas probably still needs another victory but the league should get 13 teams into the field on Selection Sunday.
The league has a chance to get three No. 1 seeds on Selection Sunday. Kentucky is a push for a No. 2 seed. Arkansas and Oklahoma officially moved off the bubble meaning that neither should have to start the tournament in Dayton. Texas is sitting in the first four out but might be able to get into the field with a Quad 1A victory over Texas on Thursday afternoon.

There has been a lot of chatter about this year’s SEC being the best conference of all-time. The league is in position to prove that on Selection Sunday.
