KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WCHS) — For a sixth straight year, the Shawnee Sports Complex will hold the Capital Cup soccer tournament, welcoming teams from West Virginia and several surrounding states.
The first of more than 300 games are scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. Friday, April 4 and conclude Sunday, April 6 at 6 p.m., according to event organizers.
The sixth annual Capital Cup is expected to draw more than 9,000 players and their families along with multiple vendors.
Teams from West Virginia, Virginia, Ohio, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Maryland are registered for the tournament.
Although the Kanawha Valley has experienced days of steady rainfall, no plans to reschedule games have been announced as of Friday morning.
