MARQUETTE — Seven Marquette Senior High School players earned honors when the Great Northern Conference recently announced its postseason baseball honors as voted on by coaches and managers.
A pair of Sentinel seniors won top awards as they were voted onto the GNC Dream Team. They are infielder Ian Sheltrow and outfielder Gibson Jezewski. Their honors were noted as Gold Glove awards, meaning they were specifically chosen for their defensive expertise, as were seven of the nine honored on this top unit.
Two Marquette players made the GNC Second Team, senior outfielder Jake Toyras and junior pitcher Alex Brennan, while another trio of their teammates earned Honorable Mention — junior pitcher Desmond Gleason and freshman infielders Easton Jezewski and Wesley Robinson.
Kingsford and Escanaba between them swept all the league’s special awards.
The Flivvers were named Team of the Year, while those schools split the Coach of the Year honors — KHS manager Joe Kriegl and his staff and Eskymos manager Scott Hanson and his staff.

And the GNC Pitcher of the Year went to Escanaba junior Lennox Peacock.
