Shreyas Iyer on Saturday slammed an unbeaten 55-ball 114 as Mumbai posted mammoth total of 382 for 4 against Karnataka in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy at the Narendra Modi Stadium Ground ‘B’, Motera in Ahmedabad.
Iyer’s knock was studded with five boundaries and ten sixes. Iyer also become the second batter to hit 10 sixes twice in a Vijay Hazare Trophy innings after Yusuf Pathan.
Karnataka won the toss and opted to field first.
Mumbai lost Angkrish Raghuvanshi (6) cheaply. But Ayush Mhatre (78 off 82 balls; 4×6, 6×2) put on 141 runs stand for the second wicket with wicketkeeper-batter Hardik Tamore (84 off 94 balls; 4×7, 6×3).
Thereafter it was Mumbhai’s captain Shreyas Iyer’s show. He dominated the Karnataka bowlers. Iyer smoked Vidyadhar Patil for four sixes, Vijay Kumar Vyshak for three and Pravin Dubey for two maximums.
Team India T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav scored a brisk 16-ball 20.
Shivam Dube remained unbeaten on 63 off 36 balls with the help of five fours and five sixes and forged an unbeaten 148-run stand for the fifth wicket with captain Iyer.
For Karnataka, Pravin Dubey (2/89), Shreyas Gopal (1/65) and Vidyadhar Patil (1/103) shared the spoils.
Earlier, Iyer has guided Mumbai to win the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
