SILVER CREEK — The Silver Creek-Forestville Unified Bowling Team was on a roll earlier this month. In fact, the team did so well at the sixth Unified Bowling Championship event, it brought home a first place finish in its division.
Students from 28 different schools came together on March 3 at Airport Lanes in Cheektowaga at the Unified Bowling Championships for a day of friendly competition and camaraderie that showcases the best that sports have to offer.
The 28 teams were split into seven divisions. Silver Creek-Forestville competed against three teams from Erie County: Lockport, Williamsville North, and Kenmore East. When it was all said and done, Silver Creek-Forestville represented Chautauqua County more than admirably.

Silver Creek-Forestville dropped 212 pins more than Kenmore East to pull out a first-place finish in the division. The victory capped off a 5-1 season for Silver Creek-Forestville. The team is coached by Silver Creek teacher Janet Decker and Forestville teacher Brenda Kerstetter.
Eight students from the two schools scored season-high games at the championship event. Bryan Wagner, of Silver Creek, and Ali Kerstetter, of Forestville, won the Character Athlete Awards for the team, presented by Cross Training Athletics. Wagner and Emily Lillie, of Forestville, also won the Section VI sportsmanship patches for their team.
