Sports betting has returned to Silver Reef Casino Resort with new features, such as same-game parlays, with the reopening this week of its Silver Reef Casino Sportsbook following a four-month closure.
“There hasn’t been a day where we haven’t received a phone call, text or email,” sportsbook manager Aaron Gepner said. “We are ecstatic that we are open and excited to see the people come back in here.”
The sportsbook had closed in December 2024 due to its previous partner, U.K.-based bookmaker Betfred, exiting Washington after mixed results in the 2023 fiscal year. Silver Reef Sportsbook will provide new options under its new partnership, including new odds, new betting options, new sports to bet on and the ability to bet on a game while it’s live.
“BetFred was very instrumental in the implementation of introducing sports betting to us and allowing us to grow,” Gepner said.
Silver Reef Sportsbook has now partnered with International Game Technology (IGT), which provides services to public and commercial gaming operators across 100 countries, according to its website.
“I don’t think we could have opened this quickly without our internal staff, IGT and Washington Gaming Commission,” Silver Reef Casino CEO Wendy Carter said. “We get a lot more flexibility with our odds and bet amounts and other things with IGT that we are excited about for our guests.”
Compared to BetFred, the Silver Reef Sportsbook will provide same-game parlays and same-game parlays plus. A same-game parlay combines multiple bets from a single game, all of which need to hit in order to cash the ticket. A same-game parlay plus is similar to above, but can also include bets from other games.
Besides providing new betting options, the sportsbook said it offers a personal and welcoming atmosphere to sports bettors.
“The team we have has been here a very long time and are very knowledgeable in sports betting,” Carter said. “The other piece is the location to the table floor and casino games make it easy for our betting customers to play multiple games at once. It is super comfortable and accessible.”
The sportsbook allows sports bettors to bet either on one of several kiosks or walk up to the counter and place a bet with one of the staff members. The minimum bet amount is $5, while the maximum bet depends on the sporting event.
The sportsbook also provides a variety of bets on several sports, including NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, WNBA, UFC, golf and more. The sportsbook can also play up to 16 different games on TVs and host UFC fight nights and Seattle Seahawks games.
“(The sportsbook) can grow exponentially,” Carter said. “IGT is a powerhouse in the gaming industry … not just sports betting. “Wherever we envision our sports betting going, they can help us get there. It makes us excited.”
On the first day of the sportsbook reopening May 1, bettors trickled into the casino to place bets, including 72-year-old Jack Vitaljic.
“The few months they were off were torturous,” Vitaljic said. “I’m an old guy sitting at the computer who makes a weekly bet and it is fun. I am missing that.”
Vitaljic placed his first bet on a United Football League game and said he enjoyed his experience.
“I had yet to see their new kiosk,” Vitaljic said. “I was checking it out and seeing what’s available. I typically bet future bets and they have yet to pop up. Everything looks good and it looks like I’ll be having fun again.”
Silver Reef Sportsbook window is open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., while the kiosks are open from 7 a.m. to 3 a.m. Monday through Friday, and 24 hours on the weekend.
