Sports calendar: May 2–11, 2025 – Cascadia Daily News

When Ferndale and Burlington-Edison met on April 16, the Tigers won an offensive shootout, 9-8, at Ferndale High. Since then, the Tigers have won five straight games while Ferndale has won two of its last five. Ferndale’s Fenton Vasak and Burlington-Edison’s Cody Roetcisoender shined in the first matchup, combining for six hits and five RBIs.
Western Washington University is the defending conference champion and will travel to Northwest Nazarene’s campus as the top seed. The Vikings will face Montana State Billings in the opening round at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, May 1. If the Vikings win, they will play at 10 a.m. Friday, May 2, and at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 3.
The Lake Whatcom Classic will have two races starting at Bloedel Donovan Park, heading down toward Reveille Island, circling it counterclockwise, and back to the start/finish line. The two races will be either 5.5 miles or 12 miles. It is $25 for members to race and $30 for nonmembers. Awards will be given to the top three finishers in each race.
