Sports cars pulled in West Routt over for speeding over 100 mph – Steamboat Pilot

    News |

Three high end sports cars were pulled over and issued citations after reaching speeds of over 100 mph while driving eastbound on U.S. Highway 40 near mile marker 106 west of Hayden Thursday evening, according to Routt County Undersheriff Joshua Carrell.
Although the three drivers were issued citations, no one was arrested, added Carrell.
According to Hayden Police Chief Scott Scurlock, the Colorado State Patrol had been receiving complaints regarding the vehicles since they entered Colorado from Utah.
The lead driver — behind the wheel of a pink Porsche — was issued 12 points on his license, according to the summons order. Hayden police radars reported the vehicle driving at 106 mph in a 65 mph zone.
Law enforcement reminds drivers to continue to report high speeds and reckless driving as soon as possible to keep Routt County roadways safe.
To report a dangerous driver, call 911 or *CSP (*277) and relay information regarding the approximate location, direction of travel, vehicle description with any identifying markings, license plate, driver description and the driving action.
“Routt County Communications receives multiple calls a day from our citizens advising law enforcement about the poor driving actions of others,” said Carrell in a statement. “Law Enforcement thanks our community for their assistance in helping keep everyone and our families safe on our roadways.”
