Harriet Dart, the British number four, has apologised for making a remark about her French opponent’s personal hygiene during a first-round loss at the Rouen Open.
Dart, who was beaten 6-0, 6-3 by Lois Boisson, struggled in the opening set, which she lost in just 28 minutes. During a changeover in the second set, Dart was heard on the broadcast asking the umpire, “Can you ask her to put on deodorant? She smells really bad.”
Following the match, Dart posted an apology on her Instagram story: “I want to apologise for what I said on court today. It was a heat-of-the-moment comment that I truly regret.”

That shadow hasn’t gone away. Just recently, Bangladesh’s Shohely Akhter became the first woman cricketer banned by the ICC for corruption, handed a five-year sentence for trying to fix matches at the 2023 T20 World Cup.
Punjab Kings pulled off the unthinkable by defending the lowest total in IPL history, securing a dramatic 16-run win over Kolkata Knight Riders on 15 April at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium. (Highlights)
