Sri Lanka recorded a seven-run win over Bangladesh to remain in the hunt for a World Cup semifinal berth.
Chamari Athapaththu bowled a staggering final over to deny Bangladesh victory.
Sri Lanka next plays bottom-placed Pakistan as it looks to qualify for the knock-out stage of the tournament.
Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu has engineered an extraordinary comeback win over Bangladesh to keep her nation alive in the Women's Cricket World Cup.
Bangladesh appeared to be cruising to victory as it chased the 203 runs it needed to stay in the competition but collapsed in dramatic fashion in Navi Mumbai.
It lost five wickets in seven balls and only scored a single from the last nine deliveries to lose by seven runs.
Athapaththu, who had made 46 with the bat, bowled the last over for Sri Lanka, with Bangladesh needing nine runs to win.
She took wickets with the first, third and fourth deliveries.
From the second delivery, Nilakshi de Silva effected a run out with a direct hit.
The crucial wicket was off the third ball, when de Silva caught Nigar Sultana in the deep for 77, ending an innings that looked to be carrying Bangladesh to victory.
Bangladesh finished its over on 9-195.
Sri Lanka sits in sixth place on the eight-team tournament standings.
England secures its Women's World Cup semifinal spot with a tense four-run win over tournament co-host India at Indor's Holkar Stadium.
"Not our best game. We were lucky to win," said Athapaththu, who took the figures of 4-42.
"We kept fighting. If we make the semifinal, it'll be a miracle."
Earlier, Sri Lanka opted to bat first.
The tournament co-hosts were dismissed with eight balls remaining, having collapsed from 4-174 to 202 all out.
Hasini Perera anchored the innings with 85 off 99 deliveries.
Shorna Akter was the most productive among Bangladesh's bowling attack, claiming 3-27.
Sri Lanka plays its final round-robin match against bottom-placed Pakistan in a day-night fixture beginning on Friday in Colombo.
Bangladesh, seventh on the standings, finishes its campaign against India in Navi Mumbai on Sunday.
