Steelers Fans Receive Bad News in Ramsey Trade Update originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Pittsburgh Steelers acquired Darius Slay this offseason to pair with three-year player Joey Porter Jr in the secondary.
If the Steelers are inclined to add another veteran cornerback who can still make a major impact, one is available in South Beach as the Miami Dolphins are actively trying to trade former All-Pro corner Jalen Ramsey.
Pittsburgh should be interested, as Ramsey would be an upgrade from Porter, but Steelers fans won’t like the latest update in this trade search from NFL insider Adam Schefter.
“The Dolphins continue to have conversations about trading Jalen Ramsey,” Schefter said on The Pat McAfee Show. “And I think that a trade there will get done. The question is, when does it get done? Does it get done next week, the week after, prior to the start of training camp? I don’t know exactly when it’s gonna be — but Jalen Ramsey will get traded.
“It’ll be, I would expect, before the start of training camp. We’ll see how it shakes out — where he goes. I think he would like to go to the West Coast, to Los Angeles — Rams, Chargers, somewhere like that.”
To the dismay of Steelers Nation, it appears Ramsey prefers a nicer climate for his tenth year in the league than that of Western PA.
However, he may not have a say in his departure from Miami, depending on the offers the Dolphins receive.
This process has not been a smooth one, but the Steelers have been included in these rumors for some time. That leads most to believe that Pittsburgh is among a small handful of teams seriously interested.
Time will tell if, when, and how a trade gets done. If the Steelers strike out on a deal, they should still feel good about their cornerback situation with Slay offering the youngster Porter some leadership and valuable Super Bowl experience.
