'Take The Draw…': Harry Brook Sledges Shubman Gill With Day 5 Rain Threat | Watch – News18

Star England batter Harry Brook was on Saturday, July 5, heard asking India Test skipper Shubman Gill to declare with the lead at 450, saying that there is a rain prediction for Day 5 and hence, a very big score will simply lead to a draw, even as India push to post a massive score beyond England’s reach.
Gill turned himself into a virtual ‘Run Machine’, smashing his third century in four innings to extend India’s lead to a healthy 484 runs at tea on day four of the second Test against England in Edgbaston.
Gill changed gears post the lunch break to push the scoring rate before completing his second century of the match at the stroke of tea.
“450 declare? Shubman, it’s raining tomorrow. Half day. Afternoon, it’s raining. Bad luck for us. Take the draw," Brook was heard saying on the stump mic. Gill turned a deaf ear to all of the chatter.

Gill brought the rare milestone with a single off Shoaib Bashir in the penultimate over before the tea break as India reached 304/4 in the second innings.
In the process, Gill went past the great Sunil Gavaskar to tally the most runs by an Indian in a Test.
Gill shared a 110-run partnership with deputy Rishabh Pant (65 off 58), who exhibited breathtaking strokeplay and departed fittingly as he lost control of his bat in his attempt to whack Bashir out of the park.
If Gill was attacked by English bowlers in the morning session, he took the onus upon himself to take the attack back to the opposition camp in the second session.

Josh Tongue tried the short ball against Gill at the start of the session, and the latter was happy to pull it over fine leg on two occasions.
In the morning session, KL Rahul lost his middle stump to a beauty from Tongue before Pant made the morning session more entertaining with his inimitable strokeplay, leaving India at 177/3 at lunch.
