NORTHPORT, AL (WBMA) — The upcoming Northport Shore development, spanning 300 acres, is set to transform the local community with the introduction of River Run Park, a new sports complex featuring baseball and softball fields. The greater Northport Shore area will also include volleyball, pickleball, and basketball courts, along with spaces for cheer and dance activities.
The development is expected to attract 530,000 visitors annually and generate an estimated $68 million in revenue.
"This isn’t just about building fields and courts, it is about creating a place where our community comes together, where our kids can grow and where everyone in Northport can be proud to call their own," said City of Northport Council President Christy Bobo.
River Run Park will feature nine baseball and softball fields designed for both local and tournament play, including two championship fields capable of supporting play up to the collegiate softball level. The park is scheduled to open on August 16, 2025, with more details on the opening festivities to be announced soon.
