    The latest cricket results as Chepstow 2nds and Monmouth 1sts win – Free Press Series

    In Division 3 Chepstow 2nds (222-7) beat Creigiau 1sts (158-9) by 64 runs at Mathern Road.
    Chepstow 2nds skipper Tuhin Gavand won the toss and elected to bat first.
    Opener Malith Madurasinghe started well, making 34 despite the loss of opener Bruno Chitnis for 14, which brought the skipper to the middle.
    Gavand made 57 and Jared O’Brien added 21 before Raahi Kumar made an unbeaten 39 and Jon Huws added 19.
    In reply, one of the visitors’ openers top-scored with 41, but none of his team-mates went anywhere close to threatening Chepstow’s total thanks to the efforts of the home bowlers.
    Bruno Chitnis (2-17), Kumar (2-37), Harkins (1-35), Andrew de Almeida (2-14) and Scott Williams (2-33) while Madurasinghe bowled six overs claiming one maiden and conceding just 20 runs.
    In the same division Usk 2nds (189 all out) lost to visitors Blackwood Town 1sts (193 all out) by four runs, while in Division 5, Abercynon 1sts v Abergavenny 2nds was cancelled, and in Division 7, Sudbrook 2nds (166-3) beat Abercarn 1sts (165 all out) by 7 wickets and Sully Centurions 2nds (114 all out) lost to Monmouth 1sts (117-1) by 9 wickets.
