Thierry Henry explained why Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the best footballers of all time. On Thursday (January 19), Ronaldo played a friendly against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Lionel Messi, which PSG won 5-4.
Henry noted when the Riyadh All-Star XI manager substituted Ronaldo on the hour. The former Arsenal forward said the forward was unhappy being taken off since he always gives his all on the pitch.
Thierry Henry said this on Arabic television.
“When he replaced Ronaldo, he was not happy and wanted to continue on the field & not swap & this demonstrates the worth of this great player and his being one of the finest players since he always wants to perform the best on the field.”
Ronaldo captained the Riyadh All-Star XI against PSG on his Saudi Arabia debut. After a first-half brace, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner was voted Man of the Match. This included a penalty after 34 minutes and a spectacular close-range shot before halftime.
Riyadh All-Star XI and PSG played a thrilling match at King Fahd International Stadium. Despite Juan Bernat’s first-half red card, the French giants won narrowly.
PSG scored with Lionel Messi, Marquinhos, Kylian Mbappe, Sergio Ramos, and Hugo Ekitike. Jang Hyun-soo and Talisca, Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr teammate, scored for the Riyadh All-Star XI.
Ronaldo will eventually debut for Al-Nassr.
Cristiano Ronaldo is yet to play for Al-Nassr after joining over a month ago. After Manchester United released him, the Portuguese forward joined the Saudi Arabian giants for free.
Ronaldo was serving a two-match FA ban for smashing a young Everton fan’s phone last season. Al-Nassr might debut the former Real Madrid and Juventus forward after serving his ban.
Al-Nassr may start Cristiano Ronaldo against Al-Ettifaq in the Saudi Pro League on Sunday (January 22) at Mrsool Park.
