    Tigers drop tilt to Bucs – The Inter-Mountain

    ELKINS — A third quarter scoring drought by Elkins allowed Buckhannon-Upshur to pull away with a 53-36 win Tuesday night at Richard P. Simmons Memorial Gymnasium.
    The Tigers (5-6) trailed 28-20 at halftime before the Bucs reeled off five straight points to start the second half to take control, as Elkins was limited to just four points in the third frame and the lead swelled to 41-24 entering the final frame.
    Each team bucketed 12 points in the final period.
    Jerin Westfall and Jevon Westfall each had 15 points to pace B-U.
    Levi Wanless had 13 points and Lucas D’Angelo 11 to lead the Tigers, who will travel to Bridgeport on Thursday.
    The Bucs (7-5) host Grafton on Thursday.
    Over the weekend, Elkins split games against Hampshire and Robert C. Byrd.
    The Tigers claimed a 62-56 win over the visiting Trojans on Friday night as Wanless fired in 26 points and Dylan Hinzman added 13.
    On Saturday, host RCB hit a last-second shot in a 44-42 win over Elkins. Wanless had 13 points in the setback.
