All roads lead to Gosforth Park on Thursday afternoon as Newcastle hosts a busy card on the Flat, live on Sky Sports Racing.
The Horsewatchers recently purchased the lightly-raced Sanat who is having his first run for Michael Appleby in the Weekly 5 Free Bet With BetUK Handicap, having moved from Roger Varian’s yard. He looks an interesting type that could have a fruitful campaign on the all-weather surface and once cost as much as 220,000gns.
The eye was very much drawn to Castan on his last run over course and distance, having been slightly hampered before being switched for an effort to finish a credible fourth. He won here off a 10lb higher mark in March 2024 and could take all the beating if getting a clear run.
The consistent Wrestling Revenue and Thunder Star complete the shortlist.
Julie Camacho’s four-year-old Noble Consort had been knocking on the door prior to his Newcastle win last time and it looked like the key to him was the drop back to six furlongs, which he tackles again in the 30 In Free Bets With BetUK Handicap and looks the one to beat.
Cam Hardie gets the leg up on front-runner Spartan Fighter and if he gets the fractions right he could be interesting having dropped to his last winning mark which came here at Newcastle.
Doon The Glen, Art Fantastique and course regular Athollblair Boy could make up the places.

Jack Morland’s Angel Of Antrim was switched from the cheekpieces to the visor when landing the first of his two successive wins, prevailing in fine style and was able to follow up with another impressive display last time. The five-year-old is seen to best effect when running over seven furlongs at Newcastle and has a good chance of landing the hat-trick under Andrew Mullen in the BetMGM: It’s Showtime Handicap.
Streak Lightning kept on well for third here last time and could go close off the same mark with Joanna Mason back in the saddle.
Ravensbourne was well backed at Lingfield, and it would be no surprise to see him better that third-placed effort.
Come On John has finished runner-up on his last three starts but will be well-fancied to break his duck in the 1.52pm at Gosforth Park for James Owen. In the 4.05, Rosallion’s half-brother Lord Capulet makes his second start in Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum’s colours at 4.05pm, and will be looking to improve on his debut fifth.
