We are entering the final few days of a hectic summer transfer window and Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham are all still pushing for more major signings before Monday night’s earlier 7pm BST deadline. Arsenal are now closing in on a deal for Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie as Jakub Kiwior prepares to head to Porto.
Chelsea have agreed a £40million deal with Manchester United for Alejandro Garnacho and are in continued discussions with Barcelona over Fermin Lopez, though Spurs have won the race for Xavi Simons after settling on a £51.8m fee with RB Leipzig. Simons has joined Tottenham with Spurs also joining the race for Manchester City defender Manuel Akanji.
Liverpool are plotting a huge second swoop for Alexander Isak after Newcastle appeared to finally open the door by agreeing to sign Nick Woltemade, with Marc Guehi still also firmly in their sights. Manchester United are close to a deal for Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens, though have denied Kobbie Mainoo a late loan exit from Old Trafford. Mikel Arteta says Eberechi Eze will “love” making his debut at Anfield – and Arsenal will adapt to get the best out of their new maverick playmaker, writes Simon Collings.
Eze completed his move to Arsenal last week from Crystal Palace as part of a deal worth £67.5million.
The transfer, however, was not completed in time for Eze to feature in Arsenal’s 5-0 win over Leeds last Saturday.
Eze has instead had to wait for his debut, but he has trained all this week and is set to be in the squad for Sunday’s clash with Liverpool.
Arteta believes the 27-year-old will relish making his Arsenal bow at Anfield and is confident he can be hit from the off.

Thomas Frank has played down the need for Tottenham to sign a centre-back in the last few days of the transfer window, writes Matt Verri.
Spurs were believed to be targeting three signings heading into the final week of the window and have ticked one of those off after Xavi Simons arrived from RB Leipzig for just over £51million.
The club are hoping to add another winger to the squad before Monday’s deadline and a centre-back signing has also been on Spurs’ agenda.
Standard Sport understands that there is interest in Manchester City’s Manuel Akanji, but no formal bid has yet been made for the Swiss defender.

It’s all kicking off tonight. Just hours after accepting an offer from Real Betis for Antony, Manchester United have now agreed a deal with Napoli for Rasmus Hojlund.
Reports claim the Serie A champions have agreed a deal to sign the Dane on a season-long loan deal.
However, Hojlund still needs to agree personal terms. If he doesn’t then he could yet stay at United.
Andreas Pereira has left Fulham for Palmeiras.

According to the Athletic, the Gunners have reached an agreement with Bayer Leverkusen to sign Piero Hincapie.
The terms of the deal is a season-long loan with an option to but for £45million (€52million) next summer.
It is also claimed a medical has been scheduled for Hincapie over the weekend.
West Ham have announced the signing of France U21 international Soungoutou Magassa, writes Sam Tabuteau.
The defensive midfielder joins the Hammers from Ligue 1 club AS Monaco on a long-term contract for an undisclosed fee.

Simons became Spurs’ latest summer signing on Friday when his £51million transfer from Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig was officially announced.
Although Spurs confirmed the signing of Simons before the Premier League showdown against Bournemouth at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday, the 22-year-old will not be involved.
For Simons to have been eligible to make his Tottenham bow as early as this weekend, he needed to have been registered by Friday’s (August 29, 2025) 12pm deadline.

Antony’s time at Manchester United is nearing its end.
As per Sky Sports, the Red Devils have accepted a permanent offer from Real Betis for the Brazilian winger.
Antony spent the second half of last season on loan with the La Liga outfit and has been granted permission to travel to Spain and finalise the move.
