Viktor Gyokeres has gone on strike and Arsenal have been given a warning by Sporting over the move
The summer transfer window rolls on as Premier League clubs and those around Europe look to add to their squads.
Arsenal‘s negotiations for Sporting‘s Viktor Gyokeres have stalled over a difference in overall value and terms. However, Gyokeres appears to be taking action over the impasse, with the Sweden striker having refused to show up to Sporting training, which has led to the Gunners being given a stark warning, while they have also been busy in agreeing a deal for Chelsea winger Noni Madueke.
Tottenham have been busy and have aggressively backed new manager Thomas Frank with a deal for West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus, but despite triggering the release clause for Morgan Gibbs-White, Nottingham Forest are now considering legal action over what they believe to be an illegal approach.
Manchester United secured Matheus Cunha from Wolves for £62.5m early in this window but a subsequent deal for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo has been slow to develop, while the likes of Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho remain at the club despite pushing for a fresh start this summer.

Axel Disasi is determined to stay in the Premier League, even if his future looks to be away from Chelsea.
L’Équipe reports Newcastle United are keen on the 27-year-old.
Disasi went to Aston Villa on loan last season, but no move to make the deal permanent has developed, leaving the former Monaco centre-back’s future unclear.
Barcelona have decided to keep Fermin Lopez this summer, despite links to Chelsea.
The 22-year-old midfielder has produced 19 goals and nine assists in 88 appearances for the Blaugrana.
But Diario AS maintain he will remain at the Camp Nou, with head coach Hansi Flick eager to utilise the Spain international next term.
Marcus Rashford could have a choice between Barcelona and now Juventus as Man United prepare to sell the forward.
The £40m asking price has proven a sticking point for suitors, with loan offers set to arrive, following a successful loan spell with Aston Villa last term.
Tuttosport reports that the Old Lady could make an offer to United, with plans to also bring Jadon Sancho to Turin.
Competition from Juve could push Barcelona into making a concrete offer after missing out on Nico Williams, following his decision to extend his contract with Athletic Club.
Real Madrid star Rodrygo Goes has been linked with a move to Arsenal this summer.
The Brazil international appears to be out of Xabi Alonso’s plans after a limited role at the Fifa Club World Cup.
ESPN Brasil reports PSG are keen, but a fan reportedly confronted Rodrygo in New York, as per El Chiringuito, asking him if he would join Arsenal, with the forward opting to ignore the question.
On Sunday, The Athletic’s David Ornstein reported that Arsenal are now “in [the] process of completing move for Viktor Gyokeres after taking final steps in negotiations with Sporting Lisbon”.
It is believed the Gunners made formal advances on the deal over the weekend, with a five-year contract lined up for the 27-year-old.
Manchester United and Tottenham are both targeting Bayern Munich’s former Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha.
According to reports in Germany, the 29-year-old is keen on a return to the Premier League after falling out of favour at Bayern.
Palhinha only moved to the Bundesliga a year ago for a £43.4m fee from Fulham and still has three years left on his deal, meaning he probably won’t come cheap.
Bayern Munich are chasing Chelsea full-back Malo Gusto.
That’s according to L’Equipe, who claim Vincent Kompany is keen to bring the defender to the club. Bayern are said to have already sounded out Chelsea to outline their intentions before submitting a bid.
Aston Villa are close to completing a deal for Dutch goalkeeper Marco Bizot.
The Athletic reports that Villa will bring in the 34-year-old from French side Brest to provide competition for Emi Martinez next term, presuming he doesn’t leave.
It seems that Noni Madueke will finalise his Arsenal deal very shortly, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that he will complete the final part of his medical in the next 24 hours.
The deal is for around £48m plus £4m add-ons for the Chelsea and England forward.
West Ham have agreed a deal to sign Slavia Prague left-back El Hadji Malick Diouf, according to Sky Sports News.
The Hammers, who needed a left-back after Aaron Cresswell’s contract expires, will pay an initial £19m fee plus performance-related add-ons. Diouf has been given permission to have a medical.
Diouf started his career with Norwegian side Tromso before signing for Slavia Prague in January 2024 and has played six times for Senegal, including against England in June.
