The Gunners are finally closing in on the signing of Viktor Gyokeres after a key a breakthrough in their talks with Sporting, with the striker to undergo a medical on Saturday.
Liverpool have taken their summer spending past £250million with the signing of Hugo Ekitike, but new reports claim they still want Alexander Isak, who has informed Newcastle of his desire to leave. Chelsea are in advanced talks to sign RB Leipzig midfielder Xavi Simons and Ajax defender Jorrel Hato, but progress on a £104m double deal has been stalled by a rejected bid.
Manchester United are weighing up a move for Emiliano Martinez as well as shifting their focus towards signing a centre-forward, as they bid to land a striker before the new Premier League season starts. Wrexham have made a shock attempt to sign Christian Eriksen on a free transfer.
The midfielder is a free agent after leaving Manchester United earlier this summer and Championship club Wrexham have thrown their hat in the ring.
However, while Eriksen is said to be impressed by Wrexham, he is waiting for a top-flight club.
Eriksen’s representative Martin Schoots told The Daily Mail: “Wrexham are really upgrading everything both on and off the field, and it is a hugely impressive project, as you can see from the presence of people like [CEO] Michael Williamson there.
“But Christian still wants to play in a first-tier competition and he absolutely wants to stay in Western Europe.
“There are some contacts going on but it has to suit both sides.”
Bayer Leverkusen, Juventus and Napoli are among the clubs tracking Raheem Sterling’s situation at Chelsea.
Sterling is expected to leave Chelsea this summer, either on loan or permanently, as he is not part of head coach Enzo Maresca’s plans.
The 30-year-old spent last season on loan at Arsenal, where he scored one goal in 28 appearances.
Sterling is in his second week back training with Chelsea and is waiting to see what clubs come in for him this summer.
Standard Sport understands that so far Bayer Leverkusen, Juventus and Napoli are among those to register an early interest.
Fulham have also been linked with the winger and that could prove an attractive option for him, if it materialises. Sterling is settled in London and his son, Thiago, is part of the Arsenal academy.

Viktor Gyokeres has been given permission by Sporting to undergo a medical ahead of his move to Arsenal.
Arsenal are set to pay €63.5million (£55m) up front, with a further €10m (£8.7m) in add-ons to land the Swedish striker.
Gyokeres has reportedly already agreed personal terms on a five-year contract with Arsenal, as they were his destination of choice this summer.
Arsenal and Sporting have been in talks for weeks over a fee for the 27-year-old, who scored 54 goals in all competitions last season.
Gyokeres has not been in pre-season training while negotiations have continued and he has instead been waiting for the green light to complete his move to Arsenal.
Standard Sport understands Gyokeres has now been given permission by Sporting to undergo his medical before putting pen to paper with Arsenal.

Manchester City will sign James Trafford from Burnley.
The Athletic report that City have agreed a £27million deal for the goalkeeper, having sold him for £14m.
Trafford will sign a five-year contract with the option to extend that by a further 12 months.
Stefan Ortega is expected to leave City, with Trafford competing with Ederson.
For several reasons, Alexander Isak joining Liverpool would ramp up the pressure on Arsenal to sign Eberechi Eze.
There is, firstly, the issue of Arsenal being outgunned by their rivals when it comes to attacking power this season.
Gyokeres and Noni Madueke undoubtedly improve Arsenal’s attacking options, but if Liverpool were to add Isak to the arrivals of Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike, it would be hard to argue that Arteta’s squad isn’t the weaker of the two.
The arrival of Eze would help close that gap, significantly strengthening Arsenal’s attack with his versatility. The England midfielder can play on the left flank, as a No8, a No10 or even as a false nine if required.
Eze has a release clause in his contract of £68m, meaning the combined fee for him and Gyokeres would be comparable to what Liverpool are reportedly willing to spend on Isak.
If Arsenal were to secure both players, it would at least make Isak’s move to Anfield more palatable for fans.

We are in the final, final stages of this long saga regarding Gyokeres and Arsenal, reports Simon Collings.
The striker has agreed terms on a contract and is just waiting to undergo a medical.
He has not had the green light yet from Sporting, but the hope is it comes soon.
Douglas Luiz has failed to turn up for the start of pre-season training at Juventus.
Thats according to Gazzetta dello Sport, with it reported that the former Aston Villa midfielder’s relationship with Juventus has broken down.
Manchester United, West Ham and Everton are among the clubs interested in bringing Luiz back to the Premier League.
Bayern Munich are expected to make a big offer for Luis Diaz today.
The Liverpool winger is believed to be keen on leaving the club this summer and a sale would help the Reds fund a move for Alexander Isak.
Football journalist Sacha Tavolieri reports that Bayern will submit an offer of £70m including add-ons.
Liverpool know Diaz wants to leave and it is claimed that they will not blok that desire.
Napoli are said to be interested in a surprise move for Raheem Sterling.
The 30-year-old is not in Enzo Maresca’s plans at Chelsea, having returned to the club this summer after an unsuccessful loan spell at Arsenal.
Recent reports have suggested that the Blues are looking to sell Sterling for around £20million.
Calcio Mercato report that Napoli have placed Sterling on their shortlist as they look to strengthen in attack.
Dan Burn believes that Newcastle’s squad would be ‘upset’ to lose Alexander Isak this summer after the striker submitted a transfer request.
The Magpies’ star striker did not travel with his team-mates for a pre-season tour of Asia yesterday and has told the club he wants to leave.
“If we lost any player it would upset our tight-knit group that’s been together two, three years now,” Burn said.
“From our point of view, we just have to control what we can control in the moment.”
He added that he hoped Isak would soon join up with the squad: “We are looking forward to getting him back when he’s fit.”
