Softball
The Arcadia Lady Firebirds softball team hosted Chincoteague on Tuesday afternoon and won by a score of 10–0. Ryann Giddins earned the win on the mound, pitching five innings, allowing just one hit, and striking out nine batters. Caitlyn McPherson started for the Lady Ponies and took the loss.
Offensively, the Lady Firebirds tallied 11 hits. Giddins also led at the plate, going 3-for-4. Megan Montross, Peyton Taylor, and Brinlee Kauthen each added two hits.
Arcadia improves to 5–6 on the season and will host Northampton on Thursday. Chincoteague falls to 6–6 and will host Nandua on Thursday.
The Nandua Lady Warriors defeated Northampton on Tuesday afternoon by a score of 20–11. Kylie Killmon got the start and the win for Nandua, while Anna Temich took the loss for the Lady Yellow Jackets.
The Lady Warriors racked up 18 hits in the game. Killmon went 5-for-6, while Peyton Truckner, Corrin Burrell, Amirrah Church, Shelby Fitzgerald, and Brianna Zavala each recorded multiple hits. For Northampton, Hailey Dinwiddie went 3-for-3 with a triple and four RBIs.
The Yellow Jackets drop to 3–8 and will travel to Arcadia on Thursday.
Baseball
The Nandua Warriors defeated Northampton 15–6 on Tuesday afternoon. Hayden Williams earned the win, pitching four innings without allowing a hit, while striking out eight batters. All six runs scored by Northampton were unearned. Brayden Downing started for the Yellow Jackets and took the loss, exiting after 2 1/3 innings.
The Warriors had nine hits. Greg Lessard went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Williams added two hits in five at-bats. Northampton was held hitless in the game.
Nandua improves to 6–6 and will travel to Chincoteague on Thursday. Northampton drops to 1–8 and will visit Arcadia.
The Arcadia Firebirds edged Chincoteague 5–4 on Tuesday afternoon. The Firebirds scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to secure the walk-off win. Dalton Barnes got the start, pitching 5 1/3 innings, allowing one hit and striking out 13 batters. Dylan Chessar earned the win in relief, pitching the final 1 2/3 innings. Kent Reed started for Chincoteague and pitched six innings.
Arcadia recorded five hits. BJ White went 2-for-3, while Chessar, Barnes, and Zach Giddins each added a hit. Jermaine Logan had the lone hit for the Ponies.
The Firebirds improve to 5–6 and will host Northampton on Thursday. Chincoteague falls to 5–7–1 and will host Nandua.
The Broadwater Vikings hosted Stonebridge in a Tuesday afternoon doubleheader. Broadwater dropped both games, losing the first 10–3 and the second 9–6. Cohen Kellam went 3-for-3 in the opener, and Eli Destro went 3-for-3 in the second game.
The Vikings fall to 7–9–1 on the season and will host Arcadia on Friday.
