A WINTER STORM WATCH is still in place for southeastern Green Country from Thursday afternoon to Friday morning. The Tulsa metro will be on the diving line of snow, meaning northern towns will receive less, while southern towns may receive 1'-2".
TODAY: Sunny and cold, with highs in the low to mid 30s. Winds are out of the northwest at 5-10 mph. Expect afternoon wind chills from 15-20.
TONIGHT: Partly cloudy and not quite as cold. Lows will be in the lower 20s with light south winds.
THURSDAY: Cloudy and not as cold. Light snow will spread from southwest to northeast through the afternoon and evening. There is also a chance of a wintry mix in the afternoon and evening. Highs will be in the mid to upper 30s, with a light southeasterly wind.
FRIDAY: Snow tapers off by lunchtime. Mostly cloudy. Highs will be in the mid 30s, with a northwesterly wind at 10-15 mph.
Snowfall totals are starting to trend down due to a number of factors. One factor includes a quick sweeping cold front behind the system. This would usher in dry air and eat away at some of the snow. Another factor is the surge of warmer air in the atmosphere. This would lead to a wintry mix to start the event, with an eventual transition to all snow by the evening hour. Snow will likely stick to the road ways, leading to slick spots for the Friday morning commute. A dusting to 1" will be possible from our far northwestern counties into portions of the Tulsa metro. From I-44 to I-40, a half inch to 3" are possible. Higher amounts will be found across our far southeastern counties. Snow will end by noon Friday.
