Mooney and Phoebe Litchfield (32 form 29 balls) then combined for a 69-run partnership for the second wicket before the Kerr sisters snared a couple of late scalps. Meanwhile, the White Ferns were guilty of multiple misfields, dropped chance and missed stumpings throughout the innings.
Australia took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series after winning the series opener in Auckland by eight wickets.
