    After India lost 3-1 to Australia in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the BCCI tweaked its rules.
    Now players can have their families with them for 14 days on long tours and 7 days on shorter ones.

    The logic? Fewer distractions, more focus. But does isolating players really improve performance or does it add unnecessary stress?
    Kohli didn’t mince words. At the RCB Innovation Lab Sports Summit, he said, “I don’t want to go to my room and just sit alone and sulk.”

    He argued that cricketers need emotional support after dealing with the pressure of international matches. If players feel mentally drained can they really give their best on the field?
    Sports science says family support boosts confidence and performance. Legends like Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni managed cricket and personal life just fine.
    So is the BCCI underestimating the mental toll of being away from loved ones? Or do they have a point does too much family time hurt team bonding?
    Kohli has started a debate that Indian cricket can’t ignore. Instead of strict bans why not have a flexible system?




    Maybe a structured rotation where players get both team focus and family support. After all happy players make better performers. Shouldn’t that be the ultimate goal?
