YORK, Pa. — A Shadyside youth continues to excel in soccer. Derek Wallace won a regional competition here recently and will advance to the virtual National competition.
Wallace, a W.Va. state champion, defeated other state champions from Ohio, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Maryland, Delaware, and Washington DC.
The Elks do not physically hold the competition, they take the scores from all of the regional competitions and award a national champ based on those scores. He scored 35 points, beating a New Jersey youth by one point. He was also the high scorer of the competition in his age group.
