The Golden State Warriors season did not end as they had hoped as they were eliminated in the second round of the playoffs by the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Of course, the Warriors were without their star point guard Stephen Curry in the series after he suffered a hamstring injury in Game 1, which eventually led to their elimination in five games.
Despite their disappointing ending, the Warriors still put together a great season lead by Curry, Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green.
On Thursday, the NBA made a massive announcement involving Green as they announced that he had been named to the 2024-25 NBA All-Defensive First Team.
Green was joined by Defensive Player of the Year Evan Mobley, Dyson Daniels, Lu Dort and Amen Thompson.
After the NBA’s announcement, the Warriors released their own official announcement regarding Green’s All-Defensive team selection.
“Warriors forward Draymond Green named to the 2024-25 NBA All-Defensive First Team,” Warriors PR put on X after the NBA’s announcement on Thursday.
Golden State also pointed out in their post on X that Green was a finalist for the Defensive Player of the Year award and that he became just the 13th player in NBA history to earn nine All-Defensive team honors.
This is a massive accomplishment by Green who continues to be one of the best defenders in the NBA despite being in the back half of his career.
Of course, Green played a pivotal role in the Warriors’ success this season, especially on the defensive side of the ball that was shown well in the first round of the NBA playoffs against the Houston Rockets.
Green ended the season averaging 1.5 steals and 1.0 blocks per game and he also led the Warriors starting rotation with a 108.6 defensive rating.
With Green still being an elite defender, he, Butler and Curry will look to make another run at a championship next season.
