India vice-captain Rishabh Pant joined his teammates in the training session at Old Trafford on Monday, hinting at his recovery ahead of the fourth Test against England at Old Trafford. Pant injured his finger while keeping wickets in the first innings of the Lord’s Test and was forced to leave the field. Though he batted in both innings, he was replaced by Dhruv Jurel behind the wickets after picking up the injury.
Doubts loomed over his timely return as the fans and experts were curious about his recovery. However, on Monday, he was spotted on the training ground, going through intense keeping drills under the watchful eyes of fielding coach T Dilip.
Meanwhile, his IPL franchise, Lucknow Super Giants, shared his picture, snapped with his keeping gloves while entering the field of play.
Karun Nair To Continue?
Besides Pant, the likes of Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Karun Nair and Sai Sudharsan together practised slip catching. Nair’s presence hints at his inclusion in the playing XI for one more Test. The right-handed batter is yet to make the most of the second chance the game has given to him after 8 years.
After scoring 131 runs in 6 innings, he was expected to be dropped and replaced by Sai Sudharsan. However, Nair may get another shot after Nitish Reddy was ruled out of the series on Monday with a knee injury.
