— The Mitchell Kernels volleyball will face top-seeded Harrisburg on Thursday at Noon CST in the quarterfinals of the Class AA State Tournament in Rapids City. The KORNer Booth pregame show starts at 11 am.
DAKOTA WESLEYAN
— No. 16 Dakota Wesleyan women’s basketball host Morningside at the Corn Palace on Wednesday at 6 pm. The Tigers are 2-2 on the season coming off an 80-76 loss at Hastings on Saturday.
— Dakota Wesleyan men’s basketball hosts Morningside on Wednesday night at 7:45 pm at the Corn Palace. The Tigers are 4-2 on the season coming off a 68-55 win at Hastings on Saturday.
— Dakota Wesleyan volleyball is headed back to the NAIA national tournament for the first time since 2022. The Tigers received an at-large bid out of the GPAC and will travel to No. 23 Park University in Parkville, Missouri, for a first-round match on Saturday. DWU enters the postseason at 18-11 and ranked 25th in the final NAIA coaches poll, after reaching the GPAC tournament semifinals. Park University is 19-9 on the season. The winner advances to the 24-team final site in Sioux City, Iowa, from December 3rd through 9th.
SOUTH DAKOTA STATE
— South Dakota State volleyball ended the regular season with a perfect 16-0 record in the Summit League with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-14, 25-15) vs. North Dakota on Wednesday. Sylvie Zgonc led the offense with 11 kills, while Madison Burr added eight kills to go with five blocks. Setter Rylee Martine had 32 assists. The Jacks are the first team since 2019 to go undefeated in the Summit League regular season SDSU improves to 22-3 overall on the season and heads into the Summit League Tournament as the No. 1 seed. The Jackrabbits will play the winner of No. 4 North Dakota State/No. 5 Denver on Monday at 6 pm in Brookings.
— South Dakota State senior forward Brooklyn Meyer has been named the Summit League Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the eighth time in her career and second time this season. Meyer helped the Jackrabbits start the season 4-0 with dominant performances, including 24 points, seven rebounds, and five blocks in a win over Murray State, followed by a 25-point, 11-rebound double-double against Montana this past weekend in Rapid City. She leads the Summit League in scoring and blocks, ranking among the top nationally in both categories.
— South Dakota State women’s basketball, 4-0 on the season, face Gonzaga on Thursday at the Pentagon in Sioux Falls at 7 pm.
— South Dakota State men’s basketball hosts Georgia State on Friday at 7 pm.
— South Dakota State football ends the regular season on Saturday at No. 13 North Dakota at 1 pm.
— No. 17 South Dakota State wrestling will be at No. 9 Minnesota on Tuesday at 7 pm.
SOUTH DAKOTA
— USD volleyball swept North Dakota State 3-0 (25-20, 25-16, 25-16) on Wednesday to end the regular season with a 20-8 record and a 12-4 mark in the Summit League. Ava Ball had a career-high 13 kills, while setter Avery Van Hook had 32 assists along with 14 digs. The Coyotes hit a season high .394 in the win. USD goes into the Summit League Tournament as the No. 2 seed. They will play the winner of No. 3 St. Thomas/No. 6 Omaha on Monday at 3 pm in Brookings in the semifinals.
— USD men’s basketball will hit the road Thursday to face Missouri at 7 pm.
— USD women’s basketball, 5-0 on the season, hosts Valparaiso on Friday at 7 p.m.
— USD football finished the regular season with an 8-4 overall record and awaits their FCS Playoff fate on Sunday.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL
— Georgia nabbed the fourth and final projected first-round bye in the College Football Playoff rankings released on Tuesday night, while undefeated Ohio State, Indiana and Texas A&M held onto the top three positions. Georgia rose one spot thanks to Alabama’s loss to Oklahoma, a result that dropped the Crimson Tide six spots to No. 10 and moved Oklahoma up three spots to eighth. The top four teams in the rankings released Dec. 7 will receive first-round byes in this season’s playoff, which starts Dec. 19.
— The Big Ten Conference has denied claims by a University of Michigan regent that Commissioner Tony Petitti threatened the school over a $2.4 billion investment plan. Mark Bernstein, Michigan’s board chairman, accused Petitti of trying to “strong-arm” the university. The Big Ten stated that no school is being forced to support the plan, which looks to bring private investment into the league. Discussions began last year, and the plan involves UC Investments providing funds in exchange for a share of media rights. Some schools, including Michigan and Southern California, oppose the deal.
— Lane Kiffin says Mississippi hasn’t given him an ultimatum to make up his mind about his coaching future. Kiffin said Tuesday that such reports are “absolutely not true.” Kiffin, who is in his sixth season coaching Ole Miss, has been a top candidate for other job openings in college football, with reports specifically linking him to both Florida and LSU. Kiffin has fifth-ranked Ole Miss at a 10-1 record with their regular season finale vs. Mississippi State next week.
NFL
— Pittsburgh quarterback Aaron Rodgers and his fractured left wrist could still play when the Steelers visit Chicago. Head coach Mike Tomlin says the team will evaluate Rodgers’ availability later in the week and that the key to Rodgers’ potential return will be whether he can play safely with a brace protecting the wrist. Mason Rudolph, who filled in during the second half of the Steelers’ win over Cincinnati, would start for Pittsburgh when it faces the Bears if Rodgers cannot.
— Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud will miss his third straight game due to a concussion when the Texans face the Buffalo Bills Thursday night. Stroud returned to practice Tuesday but isn’t ready to play because of the short week. Davis Mills will start at quarterback for the third game in a row, having led Houston to two recent wins that brought the team to a .500 record and just one game back of Jacksonville for the final playoff spot in the AFC.
— The Tennessee Titans have placed wide receiver Calvin Ridley on injured reserve after he broke his right leg on the team’s very first offensive play in their latest game. Ridley caught a 13-yard pass before being injured and had to be carted off the field. He finishes the season with 303 yards on 17 catches. The Titans, currently 1-9, will host the Seattle Seahawks this Sunday.
TENNIS
— Roger Federer has been elected to the International Tennis Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility. Federer is the only candidate to get enough support in the player category. TV announcer and journalist Mary Carillo was selected in the contributor category. They will both be inducted in August. Federer was the first man to win 20 Grand Slam singles titles, a total later surpassed by Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. Federer’s last match came at Wimbledon in 2021.

NBA
— Milwaukee Bucks head coach Doc Rivers says Giannis Antetokounmpo is expected to miss about two weeks with a left groin strain. The injury forced Antetokounmpo to leave Monday’s game against Cleveland. The Bucks, now 8-7, start a three-game homestand Thursday against Philadelphia.
— The San Antonio Spurs will be without guard Stephon Castle for two to three weeks due to a left hip flexor strain. Castle left Monday’s win over Sacramento early and underwent an MRI confirming the injury. This comes just a day after the Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama was ruled out for at least two to three weeks with a strained left calf.
— Golden State forward Draymond Green received a warning from the NBA after going nearly chest-to-chest with a fan during the Warriors’ 124-106 road victory over the New Orleans Pelicans. The fan was standing and cheering after Draymond Green had been called for a shooting foul during the game on Sunday.
— Michael Jordan has donated $10 million to a Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, North Carolina, honoring his mother, Deloris Jordan. The donation will support the hospital’s neuroscience institute, which will be renamed in her honor. The money will help expand access to advanced care for conditions like stroke, Alzheimer’s, and Parkinson’s.
— LeBron James had 11 points and 12 assists in the first game of his unprecedented 23rd NBA season, while Luka Doncic had 37 points and 10 assists in the Lakers’ 140-126 win over the Utah Jazz. The 40-year-old James made his season debut and played 30 minutes after missing training camp and the first 14 games. Vince Carter is the only other player in NBA history to play in 22 seasons,
— Cade Cunningham returned from injury with 25 points and 10 assists as the Detroit Pistons won their 11th straight game, 120-112 over the Atlanta Hawks. Jalen Duren added 24 points for the Pistons (13-2), who have their best start since going 15-2 in 2005-06.
— Desmond Bane had 23 points and five steals as the Orlando Magic beat the Golden State Warriors 121-113. Six Orlando players scored at least 13 points, offsetting 34 points and nine assists from Golden State’s Stephen Curry and 33 points from Jimmy Butler.
— Boston’s Jaylen Brown scored 29 points, whiles Payton Pritchard had 22 points and 10 rebounds as the Boston Celtics beat the Brooklyn Nets 113-99 to move above .500 for the first time this season.
— De’Aaron Fox had 26 points and Harrison Barnes added 23 points as the San Antonio Spurs defeated the Memphis Grizzlies 111-101. San Antonio was without All-Star center Victor Wembanyama and Memphis was without point guard Ja Morant.
— Devin Booker scored 19 points as the Phoenix Suns pulled away in the second half for a 127-110 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers. The Suns have won six of their past seven games and eight of 10.
