A star West Indies cricketer from Guyana has reportedly been accused of sexual assault and rape of multiple women. The cricketer is currently in the West Indies squad for the ongoing Test series against Australia.
Guyana’s Kaieteur News in a story titled ‘Monster in Maroon‘ reported that as many as 11 women have accused the West Indian player of sexual assault, rape and unwanted sexual advances. Among the complainants is also a teenager. The publication also reported that the investigation has not moved ahead despite credible evidences from the complainants.

Kaieteur News also reported that in March 2023, the cricketer had allegedly raped a 19-year-old and during investigation had surrendered to police. However, he was soon released on station bail. The report also mentions an incident where the accused allegedly raped a girl below the age of consent and later the complainant withdrew her charges.
Despite the grave allegations, Cricket West Indies has not taken any position on the matter.
“Cricket West Indies is unaware of the circumstances and, therefore, is not in a position to comment at this time,” the Caribbean cricketing board told SportsMax.
Attorney Nigel Hughes, who is representing the family of one of the alleged victims, highlighted how the investigation has overlapped West Indies’ famous Test match win over Australia in Brisbane.
“You will recall the very famous Test match, which the West Indies won in Australia, occurred at the same time, and the suspect returned together and we have heard nothing since.”
Hughes said that despite two years of investigation, not much information has been provided on the case. “My firm was initially contacted about 2 years ago and then of course, with the more recent allegations, inquiries were made literally yesterday and the day before about what the status of my client’s complaint was and we have not been able to obtain any significant information.”
