England will look to break their six-match losing streak under newly appointed white-ball captain Harry Brook when they take on West Indies in the first ODI match on Thursday.
After a tough 0-3 series loss to India, England made an early exit from the Champions Trophy. Three straight defeats at the ICC showpiece event led to Jos Buttler’s resignation from England white-ball captaincy.

Meanwhile, West Indies arrive in Birmingham after their three-match ODI series against Ireland ended in a 1-1 draw. With some encouraging performances under their belt, Shai Hope’s side will be quietly confident of taking on England at home.
The Sporting News looks at the key details ahead of this game, including how to watch the match, kickoff times and the latest lineup news.
Here’s how to watch this ODI match in United Kingdom:
The game is available for live TV broadcast in UK on Sky Sports network. Streaming options are available on NOW.
This ODI match takes place at the Edgbaston in Birmingham, England and kicks off on Thursday, May 29 at 1:00 p.m. local time (BST).
Harry Brook is all set to captain the side in the ODI and T20I series. Jos Buttler, who was competing in the Indian Premier League for Gujarat Titans, will join the England squad for the series.
The ECB has added two wicketkeeper-batters, Tom Banton and Jamie Smith, to the squad, but Banton is more likely to get a nod in the playing XI in light of recent performances.
The home team will be without key pacers Jofra Archer and Mark Wood, who have been ruled out with injury. Gus Atkinson is likely to spearhead the pace bowling unit that includes Brydon Carse and Saqib Mahmood.
England predicted XI: Brook (c), Duckett, Banton (wk), Root, Buttler, Bethell, Overton, Rashid, Carse, Mahmood, Atkinson.
West Indies have retained most of the players that featured against Ireland in the ODI series. The batting unit features some prominent names, including Brandon King, Ewin Lewis, and Shai Hope.
Two new faces, Jewel Andrew and Jediah Blades, have been included in the squad for the England tour and it will be interesting to see how the West Indies utilizes their capabilities.
West Indies predicted XI: King, Seales, Carty, Hope (c & wk), Lewis, Motie, Jangoo, Chase, Joseph, Greaves, Forde.
