It’s been nearly a month since the Asia Cup 2025 final between India and Pakistan, where the Men in Blue emerged as the champions.
However, the Asia Cup trophy was not given to the Indians, leading to strong words between BCCI and PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi, who’s reportedly locked the trophy at the ACC headquarters.

Now, in a viral video that has resurfaced from Pakistan, Naqvi’s actions have received praise from the Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori, who even glorified him as a hero for refusing to present India with the Asia Cup 2025 winners’ trophy.
The controversy erupted after the finals of the Asia Cup 2025, when Team India refused to accept the trophy from the ACC Chairman Naqvi, who is also Pakistan’s Interior Minister and the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
India’s refusal came as a protest against Pakistan following the terror attack on Indian citizens at Pahalgam earlier this year. The Men In Blue earlier refused to shake hands with the Pakistan team during the matches..
Frustrated with India’s refusal to collect the trophy from him, Naqvi decided to take the trophy away with him. Despite it being nearly a month, the Indian side has still not been handed over their possession, for which Naqvi is now being portrayed as a hero in Pakistan.

“When he (Naqvi) was standing on the ground and Team India refused to take the trophy, he waited and waited. They wanted him to walk away so that they could take the trophy from someone else, but I think they forgot that our Chairman is also our Interior Minister.”
“He handled their team like terrorists and brought the trophy in his car. Now, the whole of India is chasing the trophy,” said Sindh Governor.
Despite BCCI’s multiple requests, Team India has still not received the Asia Cup trophy it deserved. The Indian board has reportedly written a formal letter to the ACC to hand over the trophy and is expected to raise the issue in an ICC Meeting next month.
Naqvi’s actions led to criticism in the cricketing fraternity. While he is being celebrated as a hero, his actions can have some major implications, including the ICC potentially banning him from holding cricketing roles outside Pakistan.
