WNBA Responds to Big Caitlin Clark News on Sunday originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
On Sunday, the league officially named Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark and Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier as captains for the 2025 AT&T WNBA All‑Star Game.

That means that once the full pool of All-Stars is revealed, Clark and Collier will get to draft their individual rosters for the All-Star Game.
The announcement, shared moments later on X by the WNBA, was accompanied by the message, “Introducing your 2025 @ATT WNBA All‑Star Captains 🚨 Representing the EAST: Caitlin Clark | @IndianaFever Representing the WEST: Napheesa Collier | @Minnesotalynx.”
As July 19 approaches, all eyes will be on how Clark and Collier lead their teams into the WNBA’s biggest weekend.
Clark’s meteoric rise has been one of the defining stories of the WNBA.
After capturing leaguewide attention as the 2024 Rookie of the Year and earning a spot on the All‑WNBA First Team, the first rookie since Candace Parker in 2008 to do so, Clark has seamlessly transitioned into her sophomore campaign with Indiana.
Through nine games this season, she’s averaging 18.2 points, 8.9 assists (career-high), 5 rebounds and 1.6 steals per contest, underscoring her evolving all‑around impact.
Clark and Collier earned their role as All-Star captains because they collected the most fan votes. Clark led all players in fan voting with 1,293,526 votes. Collier tallied 1,176,020 votes.
Collier, meanwhile, has propelled the Lynx to the league’s best record at 13-2 heading into Sunday.
A now five‑time All‑Star, two-time All-WNBA first team selection and last season’s Defensive Player of the Year, she’s pacing the WNBA with 24.5 points, while averaging 8.4 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.5 blocks per game.
