England beat Bangladesh in the 2025 ODI Women’s World Cup on October 7: here’s the updated points table after the BAN vs ENG clash.
Bangladesh were bowled out for 178 after they were asked to bat by Nat Sciver-Brunt at Guwahati. The innings never really gathered momentum until the end. Sobhana Mostary made 60 off 108 balls, and Rabeya Khan (43 not out off 27 balls) provided some impetus towards the end.
For England, Sophie Ecclestone returned 3-24, while Linsey Smith (2-33), Charlie Dean (2-28), and Alice Capsey (2-31) got two wickets apiece.
Marufa Akter’s (2-28) double strike had England at 29-2 early in the chase. The third-wicket stand put on 40 before Fahima Khatun (3-16) struck twice in four balls. A third wicket by Fahima had England at 78-5. When Sanjida Akter Meghla trapped Capsey leg-before, England were 103-6.
However, Heather Knight (79 not out) and Dean (27 not out) ensured there was no further wicket. England won with four wickets and 23 balls in hand.
England’s net run rate were already bolstered by their massive win against South Africa. After this win, their net run rate dropped from +3.773 to +1.757, but that was enough for them to displace India at the top of the points table. Bangladesh, meanwhile, held on to the fourth place despite the defeat.
