Former Australia batter Michael Hussey remarked that Sam Konstas got a quick reminder of how his antics could fire back after being on the receiving end of a sendoff by Jasprit Bumrah. The youngster was dismissed for eight runs in the second innings of the Boxing Day Test at the MCG on Sunday, December 29.
Konstas made an early impression with the bat on the opening day by taking on Jasprit Bumrah early and was a constant presence on the field in the following days with his theatrics. The youngster riled up the crowd on multiple occasions with hand gestures and even mimicking Kohli’s shoulder barge to him to the Indian section of the audience in the stadium.
Bumrah imitated Konstas’ hand gestures, raising his hands towards the crowd after casting him in the first session on Day 4 to register a perfect response.
Hussey remarked that Konstas was bound to be on the other side of such interactions.
Konstas had spoken about taking on Bumrah again midway through his first innings heroics. The pacer, on the other hand, had responded by claiming that the youngster was lucky not to lose his wicket inside the first couple of overs.
Former Australia batter Mark Waugh opined that Konstas’ antics even triggered someone like Bumrah, who is known for keeping his emotions in check on the field.
Jasprit Bumrah is testing the Australian batting unit much like he has done all series. So far, he has bowled 10 overs, where he has conceded only 24 runs with a wicket to show for it as well.
