Haryana’s openers, Himanshu Rana and Ankit Kumar, got off to a solid start. Rana remained not out with 27 runs from 28 balls, hitting 5 boundaries at a strike rate of 96.43.
Ankit Kumar, also not out, scored 16 runs from 27 balls, with 2 boundaries, maintaining a strike rate of 59.26. The duo put together a steady foundation for their team.
UP start strong as Yash Dayal strikes twice in the first over against Tamil Nadu. N Jagadeesan (0) was caught by Abhishek Goswami, and Pradosh Ranjan Paul (0) was dismissed lbw, both off Dayal’s bowling. Tushar Raheja (3) and B Indrajith (1) are currently at the crease, as Tamil Nadu face an early challenge.
In another match between Maharashtra and Meghalaya, a double strike from Rajneesh Gurbani puts Meghalaya on the backfoot. Ibitlang Thabah (4) was caught by Gurbani off Pradip Chhagan Dadhe, while Nishanta Chakraborty (5) also fell to Gurbani, caught by Subodh Anil Veer. Arpit Subhas (9) remains not out as Meghalaya face a tough challenge early on.
Chhattisgarh lose early wickets as they find themselves at 59/7 in 19.3 overs. Bhupen Lalwani (10) was dismissed LBW by Yash Thakur, while Ashutosh Singh (1) was caught by Yash Rathod off Dattaprasad Nalkande.
Sanjeet Desai (15), KD Eknath (7), Amandeep Khare (0), Shashank Singh (1), and Gagandeep Singh (4) all fell cheaply, with both Thakur and Bhute claiming wickets. Shubham Agrawal (4*) and J P Butte (3*) remain at the crease as Chhattisgarh face a tough task to recover.
In the match between Bihar and Delhi, Akhil Chaudhary made an impact with two early wickets. Binny (3) was trapped lbw, followed by Mahrour (1), also falling to Chaudhary, leaving Bihar at 19/2 in 4.2 overs.
In the match, Punjab reached a solid total of 190/4 in 33.3 overs. Anmolpreet Singh was the standout performer with 51 runs off 60 balls, while Abhishek Sharma made a quickfire 17 runs. Prabhsimran Singh also contributed with 26 runs, maintaining a strong strike rate of 118.18.
Nehal Wadhera added 37 runs, and the duo of Anmol Malhotra (41* off 41) and Sanvir Singh (15* off 15) remained unbeaten, guiding Punjab towards a competitive total.
Chhattisgarh didn’t impress with the bat as they were bowled out for just 80. Bhupen Lalwani (10) fell to Y R Thakur, while Ashutosh Singh (1) was caught by Y V Rathod off D G Nalkande. Sanjeet Desai (15) and KD Eknath (7) were also dismissed by Thakur.
The top order struggled further, with Amandeep Khare (0), Shashank Singh (1), and Gagandeep Singh (4) all departing cheaply. Lower down, Shubham Agrawal (5), J P Butte (3), and Ravi Kiran (10) added little, and Ashish Chouhan remained unbeaten on 1.
With the ball in hand, Chhattisgarh will need a much better performance to challenge Vidarbha.
Angkrish Raghuvanshi’s explosive fifty guided Mumbai to a dominant 9-wicket victory over Arunachal Pradesh. Chasing a target of 77, Mumbai got off to a strong start, with Raghuvanshi remaining unbeaten on 50 from just 18 balls, showcasing an incredible strike rate of 277.78.
Ayush Mhatre contributed 15 runs before being dismissed, while Hardik Tamore (7) supported Raghuvanshi in the chase. With the target easily achieved in just 32.2 overs, Mumbai sealed the win with more than 40 overs to spare.
Gujarat won by 8 wickets against Assam, chasing down the target comfortably. Assam could only manage 76/4 in their first innings, with Aarya Desai (28) and Urvil Patel (37) being the standout performers. Gujarat then easily chased down the target, securing a dominant win with two wickets to spare.
Haryana post a strong total of 295/6 in their 50 overs, setting Jharkhand a challenging target of 296 runs. In response, Jharkhand are cautiously placed at 10/0 after 3 overs. Ishan Kishan (5* off 9) and Utkarsh Singh (2* off 8) are at the crease, looking to build a steady foundation for the chase.
Kerala’s batting lineup struggled in their first innings, managing 152/9 in 27.2 overs. Shoun Roger led the scoring with a steady 39 off 37 balls, supported by Sharafuddeen N M’s unbeaten 34 off 32.
Rohan S Kunnummal contributed 23, while Jalaj Saxena’s quick-fire 19 off 7 balls gave the innings an initial boost. However, Sagar Solanki’s four wickets and Kumar Kartikeya Singh’s three wickets dismantled Kerala’s batting order. Kerala will look to their bowlers to defend the modest total.
Odisha post 265/7 in their 50 overs, setting a target of 266 for Uttarakhand. In response, Uttarakhand are 77/3 in 18.1 overs, needing 184 more runs to win. Yuvraj Choudhary (9), Piyush Joshi (25), and Samarth R (23) were dismissed early, while Shashwat Dangwal (12*) and Kunal Chandela (6*) are currently at the crease.
Railways are on the verge of victory against Services, needing just 40 runs to secure the win. Chasing a target of 167, they are currently at 127/3 in 24 overs. Mohammad Saif anchors the innings with an unbeaten 66 off 77 balls, supported by Shubham Chaubey, who is not out on 10.
Ashutosh Sharma provided a quick 40 off 33 balls earlier in the innings, while Shivam Chaudhary and S A Ahuja fell cheaply. Services’ bowlers, led by P S Poonia and Amit Shukla, have managed to claim three wickets, but Railways remain in control.
Rajasthan are chasing a target of 287 against Himachal Pradesh, needing 111 runs with 7 wickets in hand. Rajasthan’s batting effort saw Abhijeet Tomar lead the charge with 76 runs off 98 balls, while R B Chauhan contributed 46 runs before being dismissed.
M K Lomror added 36 runs, but the side will now look to Deepak Jagbir Hooda (9 not out) and Kartik (1 not out) to carry them across the line.
Madhya Pradesh are chasing a target of 161 in their innings, with 77 runs needed to win. After 15.2 overs, they are at 84/5. Harsh Gawali top-scored with 36 runs, while Subhransu Senapati contributed 4 runs before being run out. Venkatesh Iyer, Harpreet Singh Bhatia, and Shubham Sharma also fell early.
Rajat Patidar and Sagar Solanki remain unbeaten, looking to steer their side to victory in the final stages of the game.
Andhra won by 8 wickets after successfully chasing down the target of 119 set by the opposition. K S Bharat (Captain and Wicketkeeper) was dismissed for 21 runs, followed by Ashwin Hebbar who scored 27 runs. K Maheep Kumar remained not out on 23, and Ricky Bhui finished with an impressive 41 runs, leading his team to victory.
Maharashtra chased down 113 with ease, securing a 9-wicket victory over the opposition. Om Bhosale top-scored with 46 runs off 45 balls, while S A Veer remained unbeaten on 57 from 66 balls. R A Tripathi also contributed with a quick-fire 7 runs off 6 balls to seal the win.
Puducherry beat Nagaland by 3 wickets!
Opting to field first, the Arun Karthik-led Puducherry restricted Nagaland to a modest 209/6 in 50 overs, thanks to a four-wicket haul by Sidak Gurvinder Singh. In the second innings, Puducherry successfully chased down the target in just 43 overs, finishing at 211/7 with the help of Aman Hakim Khan’s 70 off 52 balls.

Due to rain, the Bengal vs. Tripura match was shortened to 25 overs. Asked to bat first, Tripura posted a competitive 201/7 in their allotted overs. However, with Bengal at 42/2 in 6.2 overs, rain interrupted play again, forcing the match to end with no result.
Karnataka Beat Punjab
Karnataka defeated Punjab by one wicket in their third-round match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25. Batting first, Punjab set a 248-run target for the southern state. In response, Karnataka captain Mayank Agarwal played an unbeaten knock of 139 runs off 127 balls to help his team win the match by just one wicket.
Saurashtra Beat Hyderabad
Saurashtra defeated Hyderabad by six wickets. Batting first, Hyderabad set a 245-run target for Saurashtra which they chased down in the 43rd over with six wickets to spare.
Odisha Beat Uttarakhand
Batting first, Odisha made 265/7 in 50 overs thanks to half-centurion knocks from Swastik Samal and Kartik Biswal. Uttarakhand could only manage to score 190 runs.
Haryana Beat Jharkhand
Haryana defeated Jharkhand by 64 runs in their third-round match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25 on Thursday. Batting first, Haryana set a 296-run target for Jharkhand thanks to Sumit Kumar’s late cameo. Dinesh Bana and Ankit Kumar also played half-centurion knocks. Jharkhand were bowled out for 231 runs.
Boxing Day matches in the Vijay Hazare Trophy were not as exciting in this round because most of the matches were low-scoring.
