Lifeline of Cricket
Former India players Irfan Pathan and Sanjay Manjrekar were involved in a heated argument over Virat Kohli’s role in Yashasvi Jaiswal’s run-out. The southpaw was batting on 82 when he played a ball towards mid on and called Virat for a run, who surprisingly turned his back, leaving the young batter in no position to head back. Jaiswal reached the non-striker’s end.
Despite a poor throw by Australia captain Pat Cummins, Jaiswal had no time to return and was run-out by Alex Carey.
Manjrekar was miffed with Kohli and slammed him for a school boy error. He said it was Jaiswal’s call and Kohli should have responded as the opening batter was coming at the danger end.
Irfan was not ready to accept Manjrekar’s version and defended Virat, saying that the right to make a call lies with the non-striker if a batter plays a cut shot or behind the wicket.
Manjrekar countered him and said that the stroke was not played in the two regions that the former all-rounder was highlighting. Pathan didn’t accept his mistake and continued to argue despite knowing the fact that he was wrong this time as Jaiswal played a stroke towards mid on.

India’s problems doubled in a short while as Kohli (36) and Akash Deep (0) departed soon after, leaving the score at 164/5.
